1080p: The Ultimate HD Experience

As the leader in HD, DIRECTV now brings you the latest in HD technology: 1080p. The same HD format as Blu-ray Discs, 1080p delivers a picture that's even sharper and smoother than 1080i, especially for movies. The hottest titles are now available in 1080p on DIRECTV on DEMAND. Experience them like never before.

What You Need:

  • A DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR receiver
Check the model number of your receiver by opening the little door located on the bottom right corner of the front panel. You must have either the HR20, HR21 or HR22 model.
  • A high-definition TV capable of displaying the 1080p resolution format
If you already have a DIRECTV system in place, you can check to see if your TV is 1080p-capable by clicking on Menu on your remote. Select Parental Fav's and Setup and hit System Setup. Choose HDTV and use the arrows to highlight the TV Resolutions tab. You'll see the HD formats your TV supports.
  • An HDMI cable to connect the receiver and TV
Your TV must be connected to your receiver with an HDMI cable. Professional installation of the DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR receiver normally includes this HDMI connection.
  • How to Find 1080p Titles

To get access to the most 1080p titles, connect your receiver to the Internet. Learn how. Once you're connected, tune to channel 1100, where you'll see a list containing all of the DIRECTV on DEMAND movies available in 1080p. Take your pick and enjoy.

If your receiver is not connected to the Internet, you'll still be able to enjoy some movies in 1080p. To access the titles available to you, press the List button on your remote, then press the GREEN button to see Top Movies Now.
