  • Both the Gemini and Gemini Air from DIRECTV let you access live TV, apps and on-demand content, but they differ in setup. The Gemini device connects through your satellite setup, while the Gemini Air is designed for DIRECTV via internet and plugs directly into your TV with no satellite dish required.
  • Absolutely not. Our Gemini device works well for our DIRECTV Internet customers. All new DIRECTV Internet customers are provided the Gemini Air.

  • DIRECTV satellite customers can order online by logging into your DIRECTV account and selecting manage my equipment or contact our customer service department.

  • Gemini will work with any other DIRECTV hardware you already have. Gemini can be installed on any TV, just like your Genie® Minis are today.
  • Yes! The Gemini and Gemini Air devices support popular streaming apps like Netflix, Max, Prime Video, and more—all accessible from your home screen using Google Play. No need for separate remotes or inputs.
  • For the best experience, DIRECTV recommends a high-speed internet connection of at least 8 Mbps per stream with DIRECTV requiring 3 streams. (24Mbps+) A stable connection ensures smooth app performance and high-quality video.
  • Once you’ve upgraded to Gemini, you can return unused Genie Minis by following the return instructions provided directly to you from DIRECTV—usually involving a prepaid shipping label or a return via UPS/FedEx. Check your account or contact support for next steps.
