Who are the favorites in the 2026 PGA Championship?
Several elite golfers enter the 2026 PGA Championship as early favorites: Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Cameron Young and Xander Schauffele.
Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler is looking for his second straight PGA Championship and his fifth major title. The world’s number one player has been a sensation since joining the tour, earning recognition as the best golfer at the ESPYs for three straight years and PGA Tour Player of the Year for four straight years.
Rory McIlroy
McIlroy is fresh off completing a repeat championship at the Masters and will be seeking his first PGA Championship since 2014. Last year, McIlroy finished well below the line, tying for 47th. However, with two straight major tournaments finishing in the top seven, that momentum could give him the edge at Aronimink.
Bryson DeChambeau
DeChambeau tied for second at last year’s PGA Championship but has missed the halfway cut in two of the last three majors. His recent success has largely come from the LIV Golf League, where he’s won two straight league events heading into the PGA Championship.
Jon Rahm
After finishing tied for eighth in last year’s PGA Championship and tying for seventh at the U.S. Open, Rahm was building momentum for the first time since his Masters win in 2023. However, his last two major performances have been relatively unremarkable, with a tied 34th finish at the Open Championship and tying for 38th at this year’s Masters.
He has won two LIV Golf League tournaments this year: LIV Golf Hong Kong and LIV Golf Mexico City.
Cameron Young
Young tied for third in this year’s Masters and tied for fourth at last year’s U.S. Open. However, he also missed the cut in two major tournaments last year and tied for 47th at last year’s PGA Championship.
He’s had success at this tournament before, tying for third in his debut back in 2022. He’ll be hoping his Masters momentum can carry him through to his first major win.
Xander Schauffele
Schauffele is a former PGA Championship winner, taking home the title in 2024 in a year when he won two majors and finished top 10 in the others. He hasn’t quite replicated that level of success but has finished top 10 in the last two tournaments. While he might be a long shot, Schauffele has championship pedigree.
Who won last year’s PGA Championship?
Scottie Scheffler outplayed the field by five strokes to claim the 2025 PGA Championship. Scheffler finished 11 under par, outdistancing Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley by five strokes to secure the title.
