LA Dodgers Quick Facts:
Founding Season: 1890
Division: National League West
Home Ballpark: Dodger Stadium
World Series Titles: 9 (1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1961,
1988, 2020, 2024, 2025)
2025 Finish: Won the World Series…again
How Did the Dodgers Do Last Year?
At the beginning of the season, people pontificated on whether or not the Dodgers would go undefeated—which, over the course of a 162-game season, is preposterous. The Dodgers lost nearly 70 games last year, and still they were dominant.
The Dodgers missed a first-round bye but still swept the Reds in the Wild Card round before dispatching the Phillies in four games in the Division Series. They then took on the Milwaukee Brewers, the NL’s number one seed and number one offense, and ran through them in four straight games.
Then they ran into Toronto, who gave them their best series of the playoffs. The Dodgers were down 3-2 heading back into Toronto for the final two games of the series. With their backs against the wall, they won two dramatic games on the road to earn their second straight title and their ninth overall in franchise history.
Shohei Ohtani won his fourth unanimous MVP award. Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned First Team All-MLB honors and captured World Series MVP.
Last year, the Dodgers were dominant.

Dodgers Players to Know in 2026
The Dodgers once again enter the season as World Series favorites. They begin their year with a division battle against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and in just the second week of the season, they travel back to Toronto, where they’ll face the Blue Jays in the city where they crushed the hearts of fans across Canada.
It almost doesn’t matter who the Dodgers are playing early in the season—this lineup competes with anybody.
Shohei Ohtani
As has become the case every year, the player to watch on the Dodgers starts with Shohei Ohtani. Now a four-time unanimous MVP, Ohtani continues to find new heights in his game and redefine the record books.
This season, Ohtani figures to pitch more consistently than he did a year ago, when he started in 14 games over the second half of the season and posted a 2.87 ERA. Offensively, he set a new career high with 55 home runs and led the league neck-and-neck with Aaron Judge in OPS.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto
Joining Ohtani on the mound is Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The 27-year-old had a coming-out party in 2025, making his first All-Star game and going 12-8 with a 2.49 ERA during the season, finishing third in Cy Young Award voting.
But his season reached new heights in the World Series, when he put together one of the most historic performances in World Series history—winning three games, including Games 2 and 6, plus a relief win in Game 7 on zero days rest. Yamamoto only knows how to play World Series baseball here in the MLB.
Kyle Tucker
The rich just get richer in baseball, and the Dodgers added the top free agent available: Kyle Tucker. He’s been one of the league’s best hitters over the last four years, making four straight All-Star teams while winning two Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove in that time. He provides yet another lethal bat in the middle of this Dodgers order.
The Supporting Cast
And then, of course, there’s Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. They bolstered their bullpen with Edwin Díaz, arguably the best closer in the game. Tommy Edman has become a revelation in LA.
Andy Pages has a chance to take another step forward. Roki Sasaki, who found new life as a reliever in the postseason, will look to take that confidence back into the rotation.
Also holding up this pitching staff are Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell, who have battled injuries over the last few years but still come through when needed to deliver shutdown innings.
Somehow, the best team in baseball for two years running just got even better.
Los Angeles Games to Watch
In the NL West alone, the Dodgers have some historic rivalries with the San Francisco Giants and modern rivalries with the San Diego Padres that will be relevant every year. Here are some other early season series matchups to tune into:
Blue Jays (April 6-8)
The Dodgers return to the scene of their World Series-winning triumph to take on a Blue Jays team that looks a lot different than they did just five months ago.
New York Mets (April 13-15)
A matchup between two teams who continue to spend penny for penny in a competition for the league’s highest payroll. The Mets are supposed to be the true Dodgers threat in the NL. This matchup will be the test of that.
Watch MLB Games Live with DIRECTV
Did you know DIRECTV has the most MLB games available for fans to watch? That’s right. In fact, DIRECTV has more in-market Regional Sports Networks than DISH, YouTube TV & Hulu+ Live combined. What’s not to like?
If you love baseball and aren’t a DIRECTV customer yet, now’s the time to change that.
