As we enter into week 4 of the NFL season, we hit the bye weeks. This is about the time where you are scrambling for that backup TE, or kicker. This week, the Redskins and Panthers are on the bye. Make sure to check your lineups.
Here are my picks for week 4:
Start these guys!
Patrick Mahomes vs Denver: You are probably saying, “DUH!!”. Of course this is an obvious choice, but I wanted to take the time to marvel at the season Mahomes is having. He has 13 TDs, no INTs. And this week takes on a Denver defense that has not really impressed. This game is a battle for first place, and I expect the young gunslinger to tear up the Broncos.
Ezekiel Elliot vs Detroit: Let’s put the Lions/Pats game from last week aside, the Lions are not great. They may get there eventually, but they have not shown me much. The Jets were able to run against them in week 1, and I fully expect Zeke to eat this week against Detroit.
AJ Green vs Atlanta: The Falcons defense is completely decimated. The Bengals offense, when clicking, can ride with anyone. The Dirty Birds don’t have anyone to hang with Green. Big numbers coming.
Benjamin Watson vs New York Giants: I have been a Giants fan for over 30 years, and I feel like I haven’t seen them cover a TE once. The Saints offense is running on all cylinders, and Watson is starting to get going. He should have 5+ catches and a score. This game is going to have some points.

Beware of these guys!
Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Chicago: While I still believe in “Fitzmagic”, I do not like this matchup for him. The Bears defense has been ridiculous. Khalil Mack is making a play for MVP. There will be turnovers and sacks, and an ugly day for Fitz.
Leonard Fournette/TJ Yeldon vs New York Jets: Fournette is expected to return from a hamstring injury, but this is an ugly matchup for whomever lines up in the Jags backfield. The Jets front 7 is stout and can hold the line. Not exactly who Fournette would want to see in his first game back form injury.
Brandin Cooks vs Minnesota: After being embarrassed last week against Buffalo, the Vikings are not happy. This is a major test for them, and the defense will be up to the task. They will be getting to Goff and making it tough for him to get it down field to Cooks, where he butters his bread.
David Njoku vs Oakland: I still believe in this kid, but he just hasn’t put it together this year. I feel there are many out there in the same boat as me. He is probably your backup TE, and you have a guy on bye this week (Jordan Reed anyone?). If there is someone else on the wire, I would go for them. I do wonder if he can develop something with Mayfield that will evolve as the year goes on.
