Editor’s Pick: Best New Movie to Stream This Week

‘Hoppers’ – Disney+

Added: June 5 · Rating: PG · Runtime: 1h 44m

The latest from Pixar, Hoppers answers the question every animal lover has asked: what if you could actually talk to them? When nature-obsessed Mabel “hops” into a life-like robot beaver and ventures into the wild, she discovers a hidden animal world under threat from human destruction – and becomes its most unlikely defender.

Why we picked it: Pixar at their most inventive. Hoppers has the visual style and heart you’d expect, but it’s got more humor and a unique concept that gives it an extra layer of wonder. It’s a great pick for the whole family.

New Movies Streaming This Weekend

These are the new movies coming to streaming this week. All titles will be available to watch across streaming platforms by June 5.

‘Office Romance’ – Netflix

Office Romance Netflix.jpg

Platform: Netflix · Added: June 5 · Rating: R · Runtime: 1h 52m · Genre: Romantic Comedy · Director: Ol Parker · Cast: Jennifer Lopez, Brett Goldstein, Betty Gilpin, Bradley Whitford, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Edward James Olmos · RT: 57% critics / 69% audience

Jackie Cruz (Jennifer Lopez) is not only the high-powered CEO of a major airline, but she also flies the planes. Daniel Blanchflower (Brett Goldstein) is the company’s newest lawyer. When the two workaholics start a secret office romance, they risk their careers, their reputations, and everything they’ve built for a chance at love. Written by Ted Lasso creators Brett Goldstein and Joe Kelly, this is a raunchy, big-swinging R-rated rom-com built around one of the most unexpected pairings in recent memory.

Why watch it: J.Lo in full movie-star mode, Brett Goldstein doing the opposite of what you’d expect, and a supporting cast stacked with ringers. While it may not win in critics books, it’s exactly what audiences are looking for in a late-night raunchy rom-com.

‘Pillion’ – HBO Max

Pillion Movie.jpg

Platform: HBO Max · Added: June 5 · Rating: R · Runtime: 1h 47m · Genre: Romance / Drama / Dark Comedy · Director: Harry Lighton · Cast: Harry Melling, Alexander Skarsgård · RT: 99% critics / 89% audience

When Colin (Harry Melling), a soft-spoken, directionless young man in London, meets Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), an impossibly handsome, enigmatic biker, he’s quickly pulled into a close-knit world of leather jackets and BDSM. Based on the novel Box Hill by Adam Mars-Jones, Pillion is a sharp, funny, thoughtful film about desire and identity.

Why watch it: A hidden gem of 2026 films. Harry Melling (The Queen’s Gambit, Harry Potter) gives a career-best performance, and the chemistry between him and Skarsgård is unlike anything you’ll see elsewhere this year.

‘Keeper’ – Hulu

Keeper.jpg

Platform: Hulu · Added: June 5 · Rating: R · Runtime: 1h 39m · Genre: Folk Horror · Director: Osgood Perkins · Cast: Tatiana Maslany, Rossif Sutherland, Birkett Turton · RT: 45% critics / 40% audience

For their one-year anniversary, Liz (Tatiana Maslany) and her boyfriend Malcolm (Rossif Sutherland) escape to a secluded cabin in the woods. When Malcolm unexpectedly leaves, Liz believes she’sf alone – but there’s something in the cabin with her. The latest from Osgood Perkins, the director behind Longlegs and The Monkey, Keeper is a slow-burn folk horror steeped in dread.

Why watch it: Perkins fans will find plenty to admire here, especially Maslany’s committed performance, but fair warning — this is his most divisive film yet. Worth a watch if you’re drawn to atmospheric, unsettling horror that prioritizes mood over answers.

Keeper is also available to stream via DIRECTV.

‘Hoppers’ – Disney+

Hoppers Movie.jpg

Platform: Disney+ · Added: June 3 · Rating: PG · Runtime: 1h 45m · Genre: Animated Adventure / Sci-Fi Comedy · Director: Daniel Chong · Cast: Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Meryl Streep, Dave Franco, Kathy Najimy · RT: 94% critics

When smooth-talking local mayor Jerry Generazzo (Jon Hamm) threatens the habitats around her community, animal-loving college student Mabel (Piper Curda) uses a radical new technology to “hop” her consciousness into a life-like robotic beaver — communicating directly with animals and rallying them to fight back.

Why we picked it: Critics are calling it Pixar’s freshest and funniest movie in years — and it just landed on Disney+ after a hugely successful theatrical run. If you’ve been waiting to watch it at home, this is your weekend.

Hoppers is also available to rent on DIRECTV.

Previously Released Top Movies

Here are the top movies released in recent weeks that are worth checking out this weekend.

‘Dead Man’s Wire’ – Netflix

Dead_Mans_Wire_640x360.jpg

Platform: Netflix · Added: May 28 · Rating: R · Runtime: 1h 45m · Genre: Crime / Drama / Thriller · Director: Gus Van Sant · Cast: Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery, Colman Domingo, Myha’la, Cary Elwes, Al Pacino · RT: 91% critics / 76% audience

On February 8, 1977, furious Indianapolis real estate developer Tony Kiritsis (Bill Skarsgård) walked into a mortgage broker’s office, wired a gun to a hostage’s neck and held the city captive for 63 hours. What followed was a media spectacle that turned an unhinged man with a grievance into an unlikely phenomenon. Directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk), Dead Man’s Wire is a darkly funny, period-perfect recreation of one of the strangest true crime stories in American history.

Why watch it: Bill Skarsgård gives one of the most talked-about performances of the year — funny, volatile and deeply unsettling all at once. Critics have praised the film’s tense ‘70s atmosphere and dark humor, even when they’re divided on the movie itself. If you loved Dog Day Afternoon or I, Tonya, this strange true-crime story should absolutely be on your radar.

‘Miss You, Love You’ – HBO Max

Miss You, Love You Movie Poster.jpg

Platform: HBO Max · Added: May 29 · Runtime: 1h 38m · Genre: Drama · Director: Jim Rash · Cast: Allison Janney, Andrew Rannells, Bonnie Hunt, Suzy Nakamura, Oscar Nunez

Having to plan her husband’s funeral is already overwhelming for no-nonsense widow Diane Patterson (Allison Janney). Doing it alongside her estranged son’s assistant, Jamie Simms (Andrew Rannells), makes it even more complicated. As the two work through funeral arrangements together, buried tensions, family secrets and unexpected moments of humor begin to surface.

Why watch it: Early reactions praise the film’s balance of sharp humor and emotional honesty, with Allison Janney’s grounded performance being a major highlight. Viewers say it avoids becoming overly sentimental, instead finding warmth in uncomfortable family dynamics and messy grief.

‘Ladies First’ – Netflix

Ladies First featuring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike

Platform: Netflix · Added: May 22 · Rating: R · Runtime: 1h 31m · Genre: Romantic Comedy · Director: Thea Sharrock · Cast: Sacha Baron Cohen, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw

In this sharp satire, Sacha Baron Cohen plays Damien, an arrogant, self-satisfied ladies’ man whose world is flipped upside down when he wakes up in a parallel society where women hold all the power — and runs headfirst into his more-than-capable female equivalent (Rosamund Pike).

Why watch it: Baron Cohen and Pike are a genuinely great comedic pairing, and the film has enough satirical bite to give it more teeth than your average Netflix comedy.

‘Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ – Prime Video

Jack Ryan Ghost War.jpg

Platform: Prime Video · Added: May 20 · Rating: R · Runtime: 1h 45m · Genre: Action / Thriller · Director: Andrew Bernstein · Cast: John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, Sienna Miller, Betty Gabriel · RT: 47% critics

John Krasinski is back as fan-favorite CIA operative Jack Ryan in this Prime Video feature film following up the hit series. Attempting to live a quiet civilian life, Ryan is pulled back into the field when a rogue black-ops unit reemerges with deadly intentions.

Why watch it: If you loved the series, this is a comfortable return to familiar territory — globe-trotting action, Krasinski’s everyman charm and a tight 105-minute runtime that doesn’t overstay its welcome.
