DIRECTV SUPERCHARGES STREAMING WITH THE LAUNCH OF MIX CHANNELS

Seven New Mixes Let Viewers Watch Four Live Channels All at Once.

Four networks.  One screen. Zero flipping. DIRECTV, the pioneer of multi-channel viewing technology for nearly 20 years, is once again elevating how consumers watch television with the launch of seven new multiview Mix Channels on their streaming platform. Starting today, these new mixes allow Signature Package and Genre Packs™ customers to watch up to four live programs at the same time, on a single screen.

“DIRECTV has innovation in our DNA and is proud to have pioneered multi-channel viewing nearly two decades ago,” said Vikash Sharma, head of product at DIRECTV. “Now we’re bringing the next generation of multiview to streaming with new mix channels to give consumers more flexibility and control over how they watch and discover their favorite programming—whether it’s four games, four news channels, or a mix for everyone in the house.”

The following new mixes are available to Signature Package and Genre Pack customers based on the channels included in their lineup:

  • Sports Mix – ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, NBC Sports Now (Signature, MySports)
  • League Sports Mix – MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NHL Network (Signature, MySports)
  • News Mix – CNN, Fox News Channel, Fox Weather, MSNBC (Signature, MySports, MyNews, MyEntertainment)
  • Business Mix – Bloomberg Television, Cheddar News, CNBC, Fox Business, (Signature, MyNews)
  • Kids Mix – Disney Channel, Disney Jr., Disney XD, Nickelodeon (Signature, MyKids)

Additionally, in select markets where DIRECTV has the rights to stream ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC local stations, a Locals Mix (ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC) will be available for Signature Package, MySports and MyNews customers. A separate Sunday Sports Mix (CBS, Fox, ESPN and FS1) will be available beginning Sept. 7 for select Signature Package and MySports customers.

DIRECTV has led the way in multi-channel viewing from the very beginning. In 2008, satellite subscribers enjoyed mix channels like Sports Mix and News Mix, offering multiple live feeds on a single screen. In November 2024, DIRECTV brought a streaming version of the concept to life with its “Election HQ” multiview feature, letting customers watch four news networks simultaneously during U.S. election coverage. Now, the next generation of mix channels brings this technology fully to streaming, delivering curated, genre-based layouts and local channel mixes for even more ways to watch.

DIRECTV Mix Channels are initially available in the 910+ channel range and in the ‘Your TV’ carousel on DIRECTV Gemini devices, Roku, Fire TV, and Android TV, with Apple TV and Samsung Tizen joining in the coming weeks. Watch up to four channels at once, switch audio instantly, or go full screen with a single click. Customers also benefit from seamless closed captioning that updates automatically, and built-in parental controls – delivering sports, news, and entertainment in one dynamic view.

DIRECTV satellite customers with a compatible receiver will continue to have access to legacy mix channels, as well as the new mixes streaming through the DIRECTV app on compatible streaming devices for viewing on their televisions.
