Jayson Tatum — Forward. Averaged 26.5 points per game over the final month of the regular season. In Game 2 he posted 19 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. Boston needs Tatum to assert himself in Philadelphia after a quieter second game against the 76ers’ energized defense.
Jaylen Brown — Guard/Forward. Dropped 36 points in Game 2 to keep the Celtics competitive. Brown’s ability to create his own shot and attack the paint makes him Boston’s most consistent offensive threat when the half-court game tightens up in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia 76ers
VJ Edgecombe — Guard. The rookie posted 30 points and 10 rebounds in Game 2, the most by a 76ers player in a playoff game. His emergence has given Philadelphia a second offensive option alongside Maxey and makes the Sixers a more difficult matchup than their seeding suggests.
Tyrese Maxey — Guard. 29 points and nine assists in Game 2, including three clutch three-pointers down the stretch. Maxey’s ability to get into the lane and create for others will determine the tempo of Games 3 and 4 at home.
