Toronto Blue Jays (43-49) at San Francisco Giants (38-53) — Game Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays (43-49) visit the San Francisco Giants (38-53) at Oracle Park on July 8, 2026, with Toronto 11.5 games behind in the AL East and San Francisco 21 games back in the NL West. Ernie Clement anchors the Toronto lineup at second base, hitting .298 with a .319 on-base percentage and a .434 slugging percentage, while Kazuma Okamoto supplies the pop at third base with 20 home runs and 55 RBIs.

San Francisco counters with Luis Arraez, who is hitting .327 with a .364 on-base percentage and a .462 slugging percentage at second base, and Rafael Devers, whose 18 home runs and 47 RBIs make him the Giants’ primary power threat at first base. Toronto will also be missing outfielders Addison Barger and Jesus Sanchez, both on the 10-day injured list, while San Francisco is without third baseman Matt Chapman because of an abdomen strain. With both clubs well under water in the loss column, this matchup carries more consequence for individual performances than for the standings.

Players to Watch: Toronto Blue Jays vs. San Francisco Giants

Toronto Blue Jays

Ernie Clement — 2B. Clement has emerged as a steady table-setter for Toronto, hitting .298 with a .319 on-base percentage. His .434 slugging percentage gives the Blue Jays a bit of extra pop from the bottom of the lineup.

Kazuma Okamoto — 3B. Twenty home runs and 55 RBIs from third baseman Okamoto make him Toronto’s primary source of power this season. He is hitting .235 on the year, a reminder that his production comes in bursts rather than through consistent contact.

San Francisco Giants

Luis Arraez — 2B. Arraez brings one of the more reliable bats in the league to second base, hitting .327 with a .364 on-base percentage and a .462 slugging percentage. His contact-first approach has made him one of the tougher outs in the National League this season.

Rafael Devers — 1B. At first base, Devers has driven in 47 runs while adding 18 home runs for a Giants offense that needs every bit of thump it can find. He is hitting .246 on the season, so his value comes more from power production than average.
