Players to Watch: Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros
Seattle Mariners
Randy Arozarena — LF. Hitting .306 with a .389 OBP and a .463 slug. Arozarena has been the most reliable bat in the Seattle lineup, and he gives Seattle a steady on-base presence near the top of the lineup.
George Kirby — SP. A 2.84 ERA, 5 wins and 46 strikeouts. He doesn’t pitch today but is one of the main reasons Seattle’s rotations remain a strength.
Houston Astros
Yordan Alvarez — DH. .309 average, .611 slug, 13 home runs and 29 RBI. With Houston’s infield depleted, Alvarez has been asked to do even more of the offensive lifting, and so far the numbers say he’s up to it.
Spencer Arrighetti — SP. A 1.88 ERA and a 4-win line. He has been the most pleasant surprise of the Astros’ rotation and one of Houston’s strongest early-season rotation performers.
