Chicago Cubs (26-12) at Texas Rangers (17-20) — Game Preview
The Cubs come to Arlington riding the hottest stretch in baseball, winners of all five of their last five games and sitting on a sparkling 26-12 record that has them in command of the National League. Texas, by contrast, has lost four of its last five and is trying to find traction at 17-20. Ben Brown takes the mound for Chicago with a 2.10 ERA across 25.2 innings and gets matched up against Kumar Rocker, who is searching for command at 1-3 with a 4.71 ERA. The Cubs lean on Nico Hoerner, hitting .289 with 28 RBIs, and Ian Happ, who has nine homers. Josh Jung is doing his best to keep the Texas offense afloat at .315, and Corey Seager’s seven home runs give the lineup some thump.

Ben Brown — SP. Enters at 1-1 with a 2.10 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 24 strikeouts over 25.2 innings. Brown gets the ball for Chicago and has been a reliable run-prevention arm for a Cubs team carrying one of MLB’s best records.
Nico Hoerner — 2B. Hitting .289 with 28 RBIs, four home runs, a .366 OBP and a .443 SLG. Hoerner continues to drive Chicago’s offense with steady contact and timely production.
Texas Rangers
Kumar Rocker — SP. Comes in at 1-3 with a 4.71 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 24 strikeouts over 28.2 innings. Rocker has swing-and-miss stuff, but command and traffic on the bases remain the key issues against a hot Cubs lineup.
Corey Seager — SS. Has seven home runs, 19 RBIs and a .209 batting average. Seager remains Texas’ top power threat and a central bat in a lineup trying to get back on track.
