‘The Traitors: New Blood’ Episode 6 Preview
Heading into Episode 6, 16 players remain and one of them is already dead without knowing it. Episode 5 ended mid-sentence, with Alan Cumming standing over four open graves, about to reveal that the Traitors had murdered somebody before the screen cut to black.
Nine players were buried alive at the wake, and Cumming released Tomica Adams, Kriste Lewis, Abby Lee, Morgan Cook and Victor Vollbrechthausen one by one, leaving Clyde Moser, Mark Zgoda, Joe Vanella and Niyyah Hayes in the ground. Joe is a Traitor, so the victim is Clyde, Mark or Niyyah.
NBC describes the episode as leaving the players shaken by the funeral and racing to work out who carried out the murder in plain sight, with a savage Round Table where loyalties shatter. Victor and Abby Lee spent the back half of Episode 5 piecing together that the apples were the murder weapon, which is the closest anyone has come so far to catching a Traitor in the act.
What Happened on ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ Last Week?
Need a refresher? Here’s what happened in Episode 5 of The Traitors: New Blood.
Episode Recap
Episode 5, “Wake of the Living Dead,” picked up at the Round Table where Episode 4 left off and ended with nine players in coffins. In between, the Faithfuls banished a fourth one of their own, a Traitor came close to quitting, and two players managed to work out how a murder was being committed in front of them.
There was no mission, so the prize pot stayed where Episode 4 left it at $77,000.
The Round Table
Jay Vinnedge had ended the previous episode naming Katie Fites as a Traitor, and his case fell apart as soon as he had to make it. He cited a change in her body language after the Traitor selection and the amount of time she spent with Kriste Lewis, whom he also suspected. Katie answered by telling the table that Jay had privately told her Kriste was a Traitor, which turned the room on him.
Abby Lee redirected the session onto Sherry Kuehl, who had mentioned in passing that there were three Traitors in the turret. This led Abby Lee to believe she was a Traitor, rather than just taking a good guess.
Sherry Kuehl was banished with 11 votes to Jay’s five and one for Michael Foote, and was revealed as a Faithful. Jay, having spent the whole session accusing Katie and Kriste, voted for Sherry with the majority.
Afterwards Katie broke down privately with Joe Vanella, telling him the lying was taking a toll and that she did not want to do it anymore. Joe reminded her it was a game, even though he privately admitted it was more difficult than he anticipated as well.
The Murder in Plain Sight
All three Traitors were given the same instruction: find the cursed apples in the castle kitchen and get a Faithful to catch one of the apples before the funeral that night. Whoever caught an apple would be the victim.
Joe carried one into a room where Jay, Morgan Cook, Mark Zgoda, Clyde Moser and Tomica Adams were sitting and tossed it to Morgan. She did not catch it. Tomica offered one to Victor Vollbrechthausen, who did not take it either, and then noticed Joe walking the castle with a second apple in his hand. He and Abby Lee put it together from there and worked out that the fruit was likely the method.
The Wake
The players came to an outdoor graveyard dressed in black, where the headstones carried their own names. Nine of them, the ones on the murder shortlist, were placed in coffins and buried.
Cumming released them one at a time. Tomica, Kriste, Abby Lee, Morgan and Victor came out alive, leaving Clyde, Mark, Joe and Niyyah Hayes underground. He confirmed a murder in plain sight had been carried out, began to name the victim, and the episode ended on a cliffhanger.

What is ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ About?
Hosted by Alan Cumming, The Traitors drops a group of players into a Scottish castle and secretly divides them into two groups: the Faithful and the Traitors.
All of the players work together on missions to build a shared prize pot. Throughout the game, the Faithful gather at the Round Table to try to identify the hidden Traitors, while the Traitors secretly murder Faithful players and continue pretending to be on their side. If every Traitor is identified and banished by the end, the Faithful split the pot. If even one Traitor survives, they take the whole thing.
Season 5, titled The Traitors: New Blood, is the first all-civilian season of the American series, with 22 everyday players chosen from more than 80,000 applicants. Players will be competing for a pot worth up to $250,000, and for the first time an extra $15,000 is added every time the Faithfuls successfully banish a Traitor.
Earlier seasons featured a mix of reality stars and other recognizable public figures, many of whom entered the game with established personalities and reputations. This cast arrives with neither, giving everyone a fresh start in the competition.
