The series is even, but the storyline tilts hard toward Minnesota tonight. Donte DiVincenzo is out and likely to miss the entire 2026-27 season after Achilles surgery, a brutal blow to a Wolves rotation already managing Anthony Edwards on a minutes restriction off the bench. Game 1 was a two-point Minnesota road steal. Game 2 was a 133-95 wipeout in San Antonio that put Victor Wembanyama back in the conversation as the most disruptive force in the playoffs. The Spurs found their rhythm in transition and on defense, and they bring that confidence into Target Center looking to flip home-court advantage. Victor Wembanyama — F. Averaging 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Wembanyama looked unguardable in the Game 2 blowout, swatting shots and finishing through traffic. Against a Wolves team without DiVincenzo and a hobbled Edwards, he could turn this into a one-man wrecking show.
Stephon Castle — G. Averaging 7.4 assists per game. Castle’s playmaking has settled the Spurs’ half-court offense in the playoffs, and his ability to attack closeouts opens kick-out looks for shooters. A road steal here likely runs through his decisions.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Anthony Edwards — G. Averaging 28.8 points per game. Edwards has come off the bench in both games of this series and remains on a minutes restriction. If Minnesota is going to even the home-court script, he probably needs to find a second gear in the second half.
Rudy Gobert — C. Averaging 11.5 rebounds per game. Gobert is the Wolves’ best answer for Wembanyama at the rim, and Minnesota’s interior defense disintegrated in Game 2. He has to make this a slugfest, not a track meet.
