DIRECTV recently joined Military Makeover to help transform the South Florida home of Air Force veteran Bill “Billy” Weatherholt and his family. Along with contributing to the renovation, DIRECTV was there as the family got a firsthand look at the entertainment experience waiting for them in their newly made-over home.
And now, viewers can discover even more stories like the Weatherholts’ with DIRECTV’s new dedicated Military Makeover channel.
Behind the scenes with DIRECTV
As part of the Military Makeover shoot, DIRECTV product expert Jim Cansler joined one of the show’s hosts to introduce the Weatherholts to some of the entertainment and sports features they can use in their new home.
Cansler walked the family through Profiles, Sports Central and Curated Multiview, showing them some of the ways DIRECTV can make it easier to find and enjoy the entertainment they love.
And knowing Billy is a Chiefs and Heat fan, Jim made sure his teams were queued up and ready to go, favoriting both teams for the family. With Sports Central, Billy can find live games, highlights, stats and scores on all of and his favorite teams together in one convenient destination.
DIRECTV’s partner, Vizio, provided five televisions and soundbars to enhance their viewing experience.

Watch the dedicated ‘Military Makeover’ channel on DIRECTV
DIRECTV’s connection to Military Makeover now extends beyond individual home renovations.
The newly launched dedicated Military Makeover FAST channel brings together 44 seasons of the series in an always-on destination, giving viewers the chance to see more stories of veterans and military families and the communities and organizations that come together to support them.
And viewers don’t need a paid DIRECTV subscription to tune in. The Military Makeover channel is available to watch for free on MyFree DIRECTV.
Supporting veterans and military families
From supporting families like the Weatherholts to sharing their stories through the Military Makeover channel, DIRECTV’s work with the series is part of a broader commitment to veterans, service members and their families.
DIRECTV partners with the Bob Woodruff Foundation, whose Got Your 6 Network brings together hundreds of local organizations that help connect veterans and military families with resources and support. Within DIRECTV, the Veterans Council provides resources for employees and creates opportunities to volunteer with organizations serving military families and veterans.
The Military Makeover shoot offered another opportunity to put that commitment into action — this time, alongside the Weatherholt family.
