Saturday's Children

Young Bobby Halevy (Anne Shirley) and eccentric inventor Rims Rossen (John Garfield) begin courting, but when Rims is offered a job in Manila, Bobby panics. Taking her sister's advice, Bobby makes Rims jealous, and he cancels his plans and marries her. After only a few months, the couple is hit by financial hardship and moves in with Bobby's family. When Rims receives a new offer from Manila, the now-pregnant Bobby tears up the letter, resulting in near-tragedy for the entire family.
