San Quentin convict Arnie Judlow (Jack Palance) has devised an almost foolproof plan to break out of prison. The scheme involves Arnie's wife, Ruth (Barbara Lang), and his twin brother, Bill (also Palance), posing as husband and wife on a visit to the prison, at which point the brothers will switch places. But Ruth threatens to put the kibosh on the entire operation when her allegiance to her cell-bound husband is tested by a budding romance with Bill.
