Ever in My Heart

Mary Archer (Barbara Stanwyck), a wealthy, small-town girl, falls in love with Hugo Wilbrandt (Otto Kruger), a German who came to town with her ex-boyfriend, Jeff (Ralph Bellamy). Hugo returns Mary's love, becomes a U.S. citizen and starts a family with her. When the United States enters into World War I, however, vicious anti-German sentiment sweeps the country. The couple is shunned by friends, Hugo loses his job simply because he is German and even Mary gets suspicious of her husband.
