As Scripps continues to withhold access to ABC stations for some DIRECTV customers in 17 metro regions, DIRECTV is making it easy for NHL and NBA fans to keep watching every game of the Stanley Cup Final and NBA Finals at no extra cost through the ESPN App.
If you’re a DIRECTV customer and have ESPN included in your service, your subscription includes access to ESPN’s separate streaming experience. This benefit is available to satellite, DIRECTV Signature streaming, MySports and U-verse TV customers. Simply sign in with your DIRECTV credentials to stream live games, highlights and commentary on any Smart TV, tablet, handheld or other supported device..
That means you can still catch every remaining game of the ongoing NHL Stanley Cup Final or NBA Finals, even if your local ABC station remains unavailable due to Scripps’ decision to withhold its stations from DIRECTV customers.

ESPN App (recommended)
The easiest way to keep up with every game? Stream through the ESPN App. Whether you’re a Signature Package or MySports® Genre Pack® customer, you have access to the ESPN App at no extra cost, and can watch all the action there.
ESPN Login
- Download the ESPN App or open ESPN on a supported device.
- Select your TV provider and choose DIRECTV.
- Sign in with your DIRECTV user ID and password.
- Start streaming live ESPN and ABC sports programming available through ESPN.
ESPN Unlimited Plan Login
ESPN Unlimited is included at no extra cost via the MySports pack, or via a Gemini on a Signature package (excluding ÓPTIMO MÁS).
- The ESPN App is preloaded on your Gemini device, or you can download the App on any compatible device.

Digital Antenna
Another easy option is a digital antenna, which lets you watch local broadcast channels for free. Setup only takes a few minutes:
- Connect a digital antenna to the TV’s antenna/coaxial input.
- Place the antenna in a location that provides the best reception, such as near a window, in an attic or outdoors.
- Run the TV’s channel scan or auto-program feature to detect available local channels.
- Review the channels found and adjust the antenna placement if needed to improve reception.
