DIRECTV and San Diego FC announced the expansion of DIRECTV’s award-winning “Goals for Good” program, a community-driven initiative that turns on-field success into meaningful support for those in need. This program reflects DIRECTV’s broader commitment to activating partnerships beyond the pitch and into the communities they serve.
As the Club’s official jersey partner, DIRECTV will donate $250 to the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) for every goal scored by San Diego FC during the 2026 MLS regular season, up to $25,000. The initiative is part of DIRECTV’s evolving approach to sponsorships, leveraging the power of live sports moments to drive sustained community impact across its portfolio.
The Bob Woodruff Foundation supports veterans, service members, and their families by funding critical programs that provide physical and mental healthcare, housing assistance, legal support, employment resources, and disaster relief. Supporting organizations like BWF reflects DIRECTV’s ongoing commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves and advancing its core of We Care, We Challenge, and We Deliver.
“Through ‘Goals for Good,’ DIRECTV is transforming every San Diego FC goal into tangible support for our nation’s heroes,” said Jon Greer, head of community at DIRECTV. “We’re proud to work with an organization that delivers real impact for active military members, veterans, and their families.”
In addition to DIRECTV’s financial contributions, San Diego FC will complement the “Goals for Good” initiative by donating soccer equipment to local communities. This effort aims to foster youth development, promote an active lifestyle, and strengthen community ties through the sport of soccer. The combined efforts of DIRECTV and San Diego FC demonstrate a comprehensive approach to giving back, benefiting both national military support efforts and local community programs.
“The power of football extends far beyond the pitch,” said Joel Katz, vice president of community impact at San Diego FC. “Through our sponsorship with DIRECTV, we’re proud to support veterans and military families while working to grow the game and expand access for communities across San Diego.”
“Our alliance is a powerful example of how organizations can come together to create meaningful change,” said Dave Woodruff, co-founder of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “We’re proud to work alongside DIRECTV and San Diego FC to support veterans and military families.”
Together, DIRECTV and San Diego FC are demonstrating how modern sports sponsorships can create impact that extends well beyond the final whistle. For more information about DIRECTV and its work with San Diego FC, along with the “Goals For Good” campaign, please visit www.directv.com.
