New York Knicks at Atlanta Hawks — Game 6 Preview
The Knicks come to State Farm Arena with a 3-2 series lead and a chance to eliminate the Hawks on the road tonight. New York dropped Game 2 and Game 3 after taking the opener but won two straight to reach the brink of advancing. Jalen Brunson has been the best player in the series across both sides, averaging 28.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists and scoring 39 in Game 5. Atlanta needs a dominant performance from Jalen Johnson, who is on pace for All-NBA consideration but has been held to 19.2 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting in the series, in part due to Josh Hart’s defensive presence. Hart is questionable tonight with a lower back contusion, which could open the door for Johnson to find a higher level in a must-win game.

Jalen Brunson — Guard. 28.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game for the series; 39 points in Game 5. Brunson has been the defining player in this series and the primary reason New York is in position to advance. He finds ways to produce whether the team is playing well or not, and his ability to create his own shot in late-game situations makes him the most dangerous player on the floor tonight.
Atlanta Hawks
Jalen Johnson — Forward. 19.2 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting and 26.9 percent from three in the series. Johnson has been held in check for much of this matchup but has the size and skill to take over a game when his shot is falling. With Atlanta’s season on the line and Josh Hart questionable tonight, this is the best opportunity he will have had all series to break through and deliver the performance Atlanta needs.
