Miami counters with left-hander Braxton Garrett, who is making his first MLB start of the season. Miami’s offense is being carried by a strong pair, with shortstop Otto Lopez hitting .335 to lead the team and catcher Liam Hicks already at 9 home runs and 38 RBI through 43 games. Byron Buxton has supplied Minnesota’s top power production in Minneapolis with 15 home runs. With several Twins pitchers on the injured list, Matthews gives Minnesota another starting option for the series finale For the Twins, it is a chance to keep momentum at home; for the Marlins, it is an opportunity to salvage the finale before leaving Minneapolis.
