Clemson (0-0) at No. 11 LSU (0-0) — Game Preview

Clemson opens its season on the road against No. 11 LSU on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, with both programs sitting at 0-0 before kickoff. The game pits an ACC program looking to reset against an SEC opponent that starts the year ranked among the nation’s top 15, giving Clemson an early measuring stick and LSU a chance to open its campaign with a marquee win.

Clemson is expected to start returning quarterback Christopher Vizzina, who would be making his first road start. ESPN projected Vizzina as Clemson’s 2026 starter after he recorded 317 passing yards and three touchdowns in his first career start last season. Clemson will also feature SMU transfer Chris Johnson Jr. at running back and returning wide receiver T.J. Moore.

LSU counters with Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt, ESPN’s projected starter for the 2026 season. Leavitt brings starting experience after helping Arizona State win the Big 12 and reach the College Football Playoff during the 2024 season.

Tiger Stadium’s Saturday night crowd is regarded as one of the toughest road environments in the sport, adding another variable for a Clemson team breaking in a new starter under center.
