What is ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ About?
Set four years after the events of the prior film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker as he continues living in anonymity after Doctor Strange’s spell erased the world’s memory of him. As Spider-Man, Peter continues protecting New York City while investigating a powerful new threat. At the same time, his powers begin to undergo a surprising and potentially dangerous evolution.

After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter gained extraordinary abilities that he has since used to protect the innocent people of New York City from danger. Beyond his powers, Peter is known for his quick-witted humor and optimistic outlook, but his character is ultimately defined by his selflessness, resilience and determination to do the right thing, even when it comes at great personal cost.

Despite her sarcastic facade, MJ is deeply loyal to the people she cares about and consistently shows courage when it matters most.
When Doctor Strange’s spell erased the world’s memory of Peter Parker, MJ was left with no recollection of their relationship. With her future at MIT ahead of her, she continues her life unaware of the sacrifices Peter made to keep her safe.
Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds

Jacob Batalon returns as Ned Leeds, Peter Parker’s longtime best friend and one of his closest allies. Ned is often utilized for moments of comic relief, but he has also repeatedly proven himself to be brave and dependable when his friends need him. After learning Peter’s secret identity, he became an invaluable partner, helping Spider-Man navigate dangerous situations while remaining a steady source of support.
Ned was accepted to MIT alongside MJ and is similarly moving forward with his life, completely unaware of the role that he once played in helping Spider-Man protect New York City.
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk

Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner, the brilliant scientist whose accidental exposure to radiation during a lab accident saw him begin periodically transforming into the monstrous Hulk when he lost control of his emotions. As Hulk, Banner is one of the physically strongest Marvel superheroes and a founding member of the legendary supergroup The Avengers. Banner is widely respected for his expertise in biochemistry and nuclear physics. Jon Bernthal reprises his role as Frank Castle, the revenge-driven vigilante also known as the Punisher. He is a former Marine whose wife and children were murdered by the mob. Since then, Castle has devoted his life to waging a one-man war against organized crime and those he deems beyond facing justice or redemption through legal avenues.
Unlike many Marvel heroes, he believes justice is best delivered through lethal force, making him one of the franchise’s most feared and morally ambiguous (anti)heroes. Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan, a career criminal who first crossed paths with Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming. After being captured during an attempted weapons deal, Gargan developed a deep grudge against the hero and is eager for the chance to settle the score.
In Stan Lee’s original Marvel Comics, Gargan is one of Spider-Man’s oldest and most iconic villains. An experimental procedure gave him enhanced abilities and a powerful suit of scorpion-themed armor, hence his supervillain identity. Aggressive, volatile and fueled by vengeance, he remains one of Spider-Man’s most formidable foes.
Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger (NEW)

Tramell Tillman joins the cast as Bill Metzger, the head of the Department of Damage Control (DoDC), the government agency responsible for monitoring, capturing and controlling superpowered individuals with advanced technology. Although few details about the character have been revealed, his position overseeing the agency suggests he’ll play an important role in monitoring superhuman activity.
Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone (NEW)

Marvin Jones III joins the cast as Lonnie Lincoln, better known as Tombstone, a powerful crime boss with near-indestructible skin and superhuman strength.
