‘Mother Mary‘ (April 17)

Starring: Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, FKA Twigs and Sian Clifford

In Mother Mary, pop superstar Mother Mary reconnects with Sam Anselm, her estranged lover and costume designer, before a major comeback performance. The reunion brings old emotional wounds back to the surface as the two work through years of unresolved history. Soon, their reunion takes a supernatural turn when a spectral presence begins to haunt them both.

While the film as a whole had mixed reviews, critics and audiences praised Anne Hathaway’s performance as an iconic pop star nearing the end of her rope.

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2‘ (May 1)

Director: David Frankel

Starring: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley and Lucy Liu

The Devil Wears Prada 2 picks up 20 years after the events of the original film. Andy Sachs has been laid off by a text message. Andy finds herself back at Runway, much to Miranda’s chagrin. The film brings back the beloved characters to skillfully confront the modern challenges of the fashion and publishing industries.

Hathaway’s return as Andy was warmly received, with critics praising the effortless charm and added maturity she brought to the character 20 years later.

‘The Odyssey‘ (July 17)

Director: Christopher Nolan

Starring: Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron

Hathaway stars as Penelope in one of the biggest movies of the year: Christopher Nolan’s IMAX epic The Odyssey. Homer’s epic follows Ithacan king Odysseus as he undertakes a dangerous, monster-filled journey home after the Trojan War. Back in Ithaca, Penelope waits 20 years for her husband’s return while fending off suitors vying for the empty throne and her hand in marriage. It was Hathaway’s third collaboration with Nolan after Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises.

Despite having relatively little screen time, Hathaway made a lasting impression as Penelope, delivering a commanding and emotional performance.

‘The End of Oak Street‘ (August 14)

Starring: Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery

What if Jurassic Park came to your home? In The End of Oak Street, a cosmic event transports a suburban family’s neighborhood into the prehistoric era. Now their suburban drama includes needing to find a way to survive among the dinosaurs.

Hathaway emerged as one of the film’s biggest highlights, with critics praising the emotional, and physical, range she brought to a suburban mother suddenly facing prehistoric threats.

‘Verity’ (October 2)

Director: Michael Showalter

Starring: Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner

Verity follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired to ghostwrite for the incapacitated bestselling author Verity Crawford. While working in the Crawford home, Lowen discovers that the truth about Verity and her husband is far deeper and more terrifying than she could’ve imagined. The film is based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover.

Hathaway takes on one of the darkest roles of her busy year as Verity Crawford. While we don’t know exactly what’s in store for the character yet, if her previous films are any indication, audiences have plenty to look forward to.
