‘The Traitors: New Blood’ Episode 9 Preview
Heading into Episode 9, “Playing Chess,” 11 players remain and the Faithful have banished their first Traitor. Tomica Adams went home at the Round Table in Episode 8, leaving Joe Vanella and Katie Fites as the two Traitors still in the game.
Victor Vollbrechthausen survived a banishment vote through Shane Beatty’s Power of the Pardon and now carries more influence with the Faithful than anyone else in the castle. Episode 8 ended with Joe telling Victor he would murder him if he were a Traitor, which leaves Victor’s safety and the Traitors’ next target in question. Alan Cumming also promised a Highland Feast, which the players face next.
The first Traitor banishment added a $15,000 bonus to the prize pot, and the finale is only two weeks away.
What Happened on ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ Last Week?

‘The Traitors’ Episode 8 Recap
Episode 8 resolved the cliffhanger from Episode 7. Alan Cumming revealed that Shane Beatty held the Power of the Pardon and handed him a medallion. Victor Vollbrechthausen, who had received the most votes at the Episode 7 Round Table, told Shane he was Faithful and said he would not plead for his place in the game. Shane, who had voted for Victor, chose to pardon him.
Back in the castle, Tomica Adams worried that fellow Traitor Katie Fites had voted for her, while Katie was puzzled that Victor knew Tomica had put her name forward. Several Faithful players began to wonder whether Victor’s apple theory had merit after all.
‘The Traitors’ Episode 8 Murder
Joe, Katie and Tomica met in the turret after the pardon. Katie said she had voted for Tomica knowing the votes were not there to send her home, and argued that the Traitors should keep their distance from one another. They put Abby Lee, Victor and Clyde Moser on the shortlist.
Abby, an astrophysicist from Minnesota, was the murder victim. She left still convinced Wyatt was a Traitor. Cumming then told the group there would be no mission and that a Round Table would begin right away.
‘The Traitors’ Episode 8 Round Table
Victor opened by asking why Abby had been chosen. Some players suggested the Traitors had murdered her to cast suspicion on Wyatt and take the pressure off Tomica. Tomica again argued that she had meant to say Kriste Lewis’s name instead of Katie’s in Episode 7, and Kriste defended her, attributing the mix-up to menopause.
Jay Vinnedge repeated his belief that Victor was a Traitor, while Ben McDonnell said Victor’s behavior after the Episode 7 vote did not fit one. Victor then pressed Joe on who he would suspect if Victor were innocent, and Joe allowed that it could be Tomica.
Tomica was banished in a 10–2 vote, with Joe and Katie voting alongside the Faithful. She revealed herself as a Traitor at the Circle of Truth, becoming the first Traitor banished this season. The season’s new rule added a $15,000 bonus to the pot.

What is ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ About?
Hosted by Alan Cumming, The Traitors drops a group of players into a Scottish castle and secretly divides them into two groups: the Faithful and the Traitors.
All of the players work together on missions to build a shared prize pot. Throughout the game, the Faithful gather at the Round Table to try to identify the hidden Traitors, while the Traitors secretly murder Faithful players and continue pretending to be on their side. If every Traitor is identified and banished by the end, the Faithful split the pot. If even one Traitor survives, they take the whole thing.
Season 5, titled The Traitors: New Blood, is the first all-civilian season of the American series, with 22 everyday players chosen from more than 80,000 applicants. Players are competing for a pot worth up to $250,000, and for the first time an extra $15,000 is added every time the Faithful successfully banish a Traitor.
Earlier seasons featured a mix of reality stars and other recognizable public figures, many of whom entered the game with established personalities and reputations. This cast arrives with neither, giving everyone a fresh start in the competition.
