Jonquel Jones anchors the Liberty inside at 9.0 rebounds per game, split between 6.9 on the defensive glass and 2.1 on the offensive end. Players to Watch: New York Liberty vs. Phoenix Mercury

New York Liberty

Breanna Stewart — F. The Liberty’s frontcourt centerpiece is putting up 21.5 points per game on a sharp 47.3% from the field, efficiency that keeps New York’s offense humming even on nights the jumper isn’t falling early. She’s also automatic at the line, converting 84.7% of her free-throw attempts, which makes her a threat to close out tight fourth quarters.

Pauline Astier — G. Running the point for New York, Astier is averaging 3.6 assists per game across 23.8 minutes a night, distributing the ball for a deep Liberty rotation. She protects it well for a guard still growing into a bigger role, turning it over just 1.7 times per game.

Jonquel Jones — C. Down low, Jones controls the glass at 9.0 rebounds per game, splitting the work 6.9 on the defensive end and 2.1 on the offensive boards. That rebounding margin gives New York extra possessions against a Phoenix frontcourt that will need to match her physicality inside.

Phoenix Mercury

Kahleah Copper — G. Copper carries the scoring load for Phoenix, averaging 20.7 points per game on 43.5% shooting from the floor. She rounds out her efficiency at the line, hitting 80.3% of her free-throw attempts.

Alyssa Thomas — F. A do-everything forward, Thomas leads the Mercury with 8.3 assists per game across a heavy 33.7 minutes of floor time. Her 3.5 turnovers per game come with the territory of that workload, but the playmaking numbers more than justify the minutes.

Natasha Mack — F. Mack cleans up the boards for Phoenix at 7.6 rebounds per game, with 4.9 coming on the defensive end and 2.7 on the offensive glass. Her activity on the offensive boards gives the Mercury second-chance looks against a Liberty defense that will lean on Jones to control the paint.
