Created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the Insidious series follows the Lambert family and paranormal investigator Elise Rainier as they battle spirits from a dimension known as the Further.

Wan and Whannell are two of the most successful names in modern horror. Their creepy credentials stretch back to the early 2000s, when they created the Saw franchise.

Since the first Insidious movie premiered in 2010, the franchise has expanded into five features, with a sixth from director Jacob Chase premiering August 2026. Jeremy Slater is also set to direct the series’ first spin-off, Thread: An Insidious Tale.
