Two AL Central rivals trade haymakers for a fourth time this season, with both clubs hovering around .500 and looking for any kind of separation in a crowded division. Seth Lugo gives the Royals a real shot at a series win, sitting at 1-1 with a 2.68 ERA and 37 strikeouts across 43.2 innings of high-quality work. Cleveland (19-19) counters with Slade Cecconi, who is 1-4 with a 6.56 ERA and has yet to settle in across 35.2 innings. The Guardians lean on Chase DeLauter at .308 to set the table for Jose Ramirez, who already has 14 stolen bases and remains the most disruptive baserunner in the matchup. Kansas City needs Bobby Witt Jr. to start hammering the way he did the past two seasons, and a Lugo gem could be the right backdrop for that breakout afternoon.

Cleveland Guardians
Chase DeLauter — Outfielder. Hitting .308 with 37 hits in 120 at-bats. DeLauter has been the best contact bat on the Cleveland roster, and his on-base ability is what gives the Guardians a credible top of the order.
Jose Ramirez — Third Baseman. Already at 14 stolen bases on the season. Ramirez remains the only Cleveland hitter who can change a game with one swing or one sprint, and his presence on the bases puts pressure on a Royals battery that has been mostly steady.
Kansas City Royals
Bobby Witt Jr. — Shortstop. Batting .294 with a .790 OPS, nine stolen bases, three home runs, 12 RBI and nine doubles across 125 plate appearances. Witt has hit at least 20 homers in each of his first four big-league seasons, and the Royals will need him to find that gear if they want to climb out of the AL Central basement.
Carter Jensen — Catcher. Team-leading 16 RBI in his first extended look in the majors. Jensen has been the Kansas City offensive find of the early season, and his ability to drive in runs from behind the plate gives the Royals’ lineup needed depth.
