John Loves Mary

After World War II, soldier John Lawrence (Ronald Reagan) can finally return home and marry his waiting girlfriend, Mary McKinley (Patricia Neal). But Lawrence is already married: As a favor to his friend, Fred Taylor (Jack Carson), who saved his life during the war, Lawrence wed Taylor's English fling, Lilly Herbish (Virginia Field), to circumvent immigration laws to reunite the two. There's another problem: Having been home for two years, Taylor is also already married.
