Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice

In the 1950s, married life had become very routine for middle-aged Japanese couple Mokichi and Taeko, but a crisis teaches Taeko to appreciate her husband. Their young niece is determined to escape their fate and refuses to accept an arranged marriage set up by her parents. With tentative steps, this family, much like the city of Tokyo, slowly moves into the modern age.
