Miami Marlins (26-29) at Toronto Blue Jays (25-29) — Game Preview
The Miami Marlins (26-29) arrive at Rogers Centre to face the Toronto Blue Jays (25-29), with both clubs trying to gain ground in the standings. The starting matchup gives Toronto the stronger recent run-prevention profile, as Braydon Fisher enters at 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 31 strikeouts across 29.2 innings, while Miami counters with Sandy Alcantara, who is 3-3 with a 4.00 ERA, 48 strikeouts and a 1.28 WHIP over 69.2 innings. Fisher has been more efficient in a smaller workload, while Alcantara gives the Marlins a more established innings base.
Otto Lopez has been one of Miami’s most productive bats, hitting .332 with a .363 on-base percentage and .474 slugging mark from the shortstop spot. Liam Hicks adds important run production behind the plate, giving the Marlins power from a position where it can be harder to find. For Toronto, Ernie Clement brings a contact-oriented bat near the top of the order, while Kazuma Okamoto supplies power from third base.

Players to Watch: Miami Marlins vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Miami Marlins
Otto Lopez — SS. Lopez is hitting .332 from the shortstop position, the highest average in the Marlins’ eligible group. A .363 OBP and .474 slugging percentage put him in the rare zone of contact hitter and gap-power threat at the same time.
Liam Hicks — C. Working out of the catcher’s spot, Hicks has provided real run production with 11 home runs and 44 RBIs while hitting .275. Power from behind the plate is hard to come by, and his RBI total is the highest among Miami’s eligible players.
Sandy Alcantara — SP. Today’s probable starter for the Marlins comes in at 3-3 with a 4.00 ERA across 69.2 innings. Alcantara has racked up 48 strikeouts to go with a 1.28 WHIP, giving Miami its established veteran arm to face the Blue Jays.
Toronto Blue Jays
Ernie Clement — 2B. Clement is hitting just under .300 with a .441 slugging mark, giving Toronto a steady contact bat near the top of the order. His profile is built more around putting the ball in play than drawing walks, which helps set up the run producers behind him.
Kazuma Okamoto — 3B. The Toronto third baseman has cleared the fence 10 times and driven in 27 runs while hitting .215, giving the middle of the order its primary power source. With Vladimir Guerrero Jr. out, Okamoto’s home-run total becomes that much more important to the lineup.
Braydon Fisher — SP. Tonight’s probable starter for the Blue Jays carries a 2.73 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP, with 31 strikeouts across 29.2 innings. The 2-1 record understates the work, and a 2.73 ERA against a Marlins lineup leaning on Otto Lopez and Liam Hicks gives Toronto a clear edge in the starter matchup.
