Western Kentucky (0-1) at No. 2 Georgia (1-0) — Game Preview
Western Kentucky arrives in Athens at 0-1 to face No. 2 Georgia, unbeaten at 1-0, in a September 12 kickoff at Sanford Stadium. Georgia enters off a season-opening win with the No. 2 ranking in the country attached, and this early nonconference date gives the Bulldogs a chance to build on it before the SEC schedule thickens.
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton was nearly flawless in the opener, completing 15 of 16 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns, and that kind of efficiency sets a high bar for whoever lines up across from him. Western Kentucky counters with Rodney Tisdale Jr., who threw for 203 yards on 24-of-40 passing in the Hilltoppers’ opening loss and will need a cleaner day against a ranked SEC defense.
On the ground, Georgia’s Nate Frazier turned just four carries into 72 yards and three touchdowns, while Western Kentucky’s Ajay Allen ran 21 times for 102 yards and two scores of his own. Georgia defensive lineman PJ Dean already has 1.5 sacks on the young season, a number worth watching if Tisdale finds himself facing pressure early.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
Rodney Tisdale Jr. — QB. He completed 24 of 40 passes for 203 yards in the Hilltoppers’ season opener. A ranked SEC defense on the road is a significant step up in competition from that first outing.
Running behind him, Ajay Allen carried 21 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Western Kentucky will lean on that ground production to keep the offense from becoming one-dimensional in Athens.
On defense, Jaylen Lewis logged six tackles in the opener. The Hilltoppers need him active in the secondary against a Georgia passing attack that opened the year red hot.
Georgia Bulldogs
Efficiency was the story for Gunner Stockton in Georgia’s opener, where he went 15 of 16 for 202 yards and three touchdowns. Another clean performance would keep the Bulldogs’ offense humming against an overmatched non conference opponent.
Nate Frazier did the most with the least, turning four carries into 72 yards and three touchdowns. That kind of per-carry production is hard to sustain, but it’s the sort of explosiveness Georgia will keep chasing.
Up front, PJ Dean already has 1.5 sacks to his name. A Georgia defensive line generating pressure early sets the tone against a Western Kentucky offense that will need time for Tisdale to operate.
