Players to Watch: San Jose Earthquakes vs. Austin FC
San Jose Earthquakes
Preston Judd — F. Judd’s 11 goals in 22 appearances make him the most prolific finisher on San Jose’s roster this season. That scoring rate has been a driving force behind the Earthquakes sitting 4th in MLS, and it gives San Jose a direct scoring outlet against an Austin FC defense still finding its footing at 6-6-10.
Niko Tsakiris — M. A creative midfielder by trade, Tsakiris has racked up seven assists in just 15 appearances, a rate that stands out even next to Judd’s heavier 22-appearance workload. His distribution has helped keep San Jose’s attack varied beyond its leading scorer.
Timo Werner — F. Werner rounds out San Jose’s attacking group with six goals in 13 appearances, a per-match scoring rate that runs ahead of Judd’s across fewer outings. That gives the Earthquakes a second proven finisher to lean on up top when the match opens up.
Austin FC
Myrto Uzuni — F. Uzuni leads Austin FC in scoring with six goals in 18 appearances, and he remains the player most likely to test San Jose’s backline on Saturday. His finishing has carried much of the attacking burden for a club still working to climb out of 14th in MLS.
Facundo Torres — F. Torres brings a dual-threat profile to Austin FC’s attack, contributing three goals and five assists across 22 appearances this season. That combination of scoring and creating makes him the most complete attacking option on the home roster.
Joseph Rosales — M. Rosales has quietly contributed three assists in 21 appearances out of Austin FC’s midfield, giving the home side another outlet to feed Uzuni and Torres in the final third.
