San Diego State Aztecs
Jayden Denegal — QB. He completed 12 of 17 passes for 137 yards with two touchdowns in his season opener, though an interception mixed in shows there’s still room to clean things up. The touchdown production is the encouraging sign San Diego State will look to build on against a Big Ten defense.
Javion Kinnard — RB. Eight carries went for 79 yards in the Aztecs’ opener, giving San Diego State a ground option to lean on alongside Denegal’s passing game. A similar workload here would help keep UCLA’s defense honest.
Nate Henrich — LB. A sack in the season opener put Henrich on the board early as a disruptive presence off the edge. San Diego State will need more of that pressure to slow down Iamaleava and UCLA’s passing attack.
UCLA Bruins
Nico Iamaleava — QB. His opener produced 184 yards on 14-of-22 passing, though an interception was part of the line too. Trimming that mistake out of his game is the clearest path to a cleaner performance at the Rose Bowl.
