New York Jets
Geno Smith — QB. Smith threw for 3,025 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, completing 67.4% of his throws with an 84.7 passer rating. He’s the steadying presence for a Jets offense trying to find its footing in Week 1, and his 17 interceptions from a year ago suggest the margin for error narrows whenever he pushes the ball downfield.
Breece Hall — RB. Hall carried 243 times for 1,065 yards and four touchdowns a season ago, averaging 4.4 yards per attempt as the lead back in New York’s rotation. He enters this opener questionable with a groin strain, a detail worth tracking given how heavily the Jets leaned on his workload last year.
Will McDonald IV — DE. McDonald finished last season with 8.0 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 30 total tackles, numbers that make him the Jets’ most disruptive presence off the edge. Tennessee’s line will need to account for him on early downs if Cam Ward is going to get comfortable in the pocket.

Cam Ward — QB. Ward threw for 3,169 yards and 15 touchdowns against seven interceptions in his first year in the league, completing 59.8% of his passes for an 80.2 rating. The Titans need better efficiency out of him in year two, and this opener against a Jets defense fronted by Will McDonald IV is an early test of that growth.
Tony Pollard — RB. Pollard ran for 1,082 yards and five touchdowns last season on 242 carries, averaging 4.5 yards per attempt as the top option in Tennessee’s backfield. He gives the Titans a proven veteran presence to lean on early while Ward settles in.
Jeffery Simmons — DT. Simmons led Tennessee’s front with 11.0 sacks, 17 tackles for loss and 67 total tackles a season ago, numbers that put him among the league’s most productive interior linemen. New York’s offensive line will have its hands full keeping him out of Geno Smith’s lap.
