New York Jets (1-1) at Detroit Lions (1-1) — Game Preview
The New York Jets and Detroit Lions both arrive at Ford Field at 1-1, and the early numbers point to a Detroit offense running a gear hotter. Players to Watch: New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions
New York Jets
Geno Smith — QB. Ball security hasn’t been the issue for Smith, who has completed 46 of 65 passes for 462 yards with 0 interceptions. His 95.8 passer rating reflects that care with the football, even if the touchdown column still reads 1 through two games.
Garrett Wilson — WR. Wilson leads the Jets with 136 receiving yards on 11 catches, and his 14 targets show how much of the passing game runs through him. He’s averaging 12.4 yards per reception with a long of 31 and 1 touchdown.
Kingsley Enagbare — LB. With 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss, Enagbare gives New York a real threat off the edge, and he has added a forced fumble among his 5 total tackles. Getting him home against a Detroit passing attack that hasn’t thrown an interception is the Jets’ clearest route to a turnover.
Detroit Lions
Jared Goff — QB. Six touchdown passes and no interceptions tell most of the story for Goff, who has thrown for 533 yards on 52 of 77 passing. His 113.2 passer rating is the higher mark between the two starters in this matchup, backed by a 67.5% completion rate.
Amon-Ra St. Brown — WR. Detroit’s passing game funnels through St. Brown, who has drawn 27 targets and turned them into 19 catches for a team-high 209 yards and 4 touchdowns. At 11.0 yards per reception with a long of 34, he gives Goff a dependable option on every down.
Aidan Hutchinson — DE. Hutchinson brings 3 sacks and 3 tackles for loss into Sunday, along with 8 total tackles and a forced fumble. He’s the pass rusher New York’s protection has to account for on every dropback.
