Minnesota Vikings (2-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2) — Game Preview
The Minnesota Vikings bring a 2-0 record into Raymond James Stadium, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still chasing their first win at 0-2. Tampa Bay actually outgains Minnesota 312.0 total yards per game to 260.0, but the Buccaneers have given the ball away 5 times against just 1 takeaway, while the Vikings sit at +3 in turnover differential.
Carson Wentz filled in admirably, but Kyler Murray, who was cleared from concussion protocol earlier in the week, is confirmed by head coach Kevin O’Connell as QB1. Baker Mayfield has completed 71.0% of his passes for 398 yards on the other side, yet he has only 1 touchdown pass to show for 62 attempts, which puts the onus on Tampa Bay to turn long drives into points.
Justin Jefferson gives Wentz a dependable target with 147 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, and Dallas Turner’s 3 sacks hand the Minnesota front a pass rusher the Tampa Bay line has to account for on every snap. Bucky Irving and his 5.4 yards per carry offer the Buccaneers their cleanest path to controlling the clock and keeping the Minnesota offense on the sideline.

Players to Watch: Minnesota Vikings vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Minnesota Vikings
Kyler Murray — QB. Week 1 line was 3-of-5, 18 yards, 1 INT before he was hurt.
Justin Jefferson — WR. Minnesota’s passing game still runs through its star receiver, who leads the Vikings with 147 receiving yards on 11 catches and has found the end zone twice. He has drawn 15 targets and averages 13.4 yards per reception, with a long of 39 that shows how quickly he can flip field position.
Dallas Turner — LB. Pressure has been Turner’s calling card so far, with 3 sacks, 3 tackles for loss and a forced fumble through 2 games. Against a Tampa Bay offense that has already turned the ball over 5 times, he’s the Minnesota defender most likely to tilt a possession.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield — QB. Volume defines Mayfield’s start, with 44 completions on 62 attempts for 398 yards and a 71.0% completion rate. The finishing numbers lag behind at 1 touchdown pass, 1 interception and an 86.6 passer rating, though he has added 59 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown of his own.
Bucky Irving — RB. The Buccaneers’ lead back has piled up 134 rushing yards on 25 carries at 5.4 yards per attempt, plus 1 rushing touchdown. Irving doubles as a safety valve out of the backfield, catching all 11 of his targets for 49 yards.
A’Shawn Robinson — DT. On the interior, Robinson has been a steady presence with 10 total tackles, 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss. His work at the point of attack matters against a Minnesota offense averaging 113.0 rushing yards per game.
