Oklahoma City Thunder at Los Angeles Lakers — Game 4 Preview

The Lakers wake up Sunday on the brink of elimination, down 3-0 to a Thunder team that has looked every bit the league’s best in the postseason. Oklahoma City is averaging 122.1 points per game and shooting 50.9 percent from the floor, numbers that should not be possible in a playoff series against a defense as switchable as the Lakers. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been nearly unguardable at 28.3 points per game with 7.0 assists, and Chet Holmgren is dominating the interior with a 19/9/1 line. Los Angeles needs to find an answer beyond LeBron James, who has been remarkable at 23.1 points and 7.8 assists per game but has had little support. Game 4 in Los Angeles is the Lakers’ season, and the gulf in firepower has been the story of every minute played so far.

Oklahoma City Thunder lead the series 3-0.

Players to Watch: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Oklahoma City Thunder

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — G. 28.3 PPG, 7.0 APG, 3.3 RPG in the postseason. The presumptive MVP is having a series for the ages and getting to wherever he wants on the floor against the Lakers.

Chet Holmgren — C. 19.0 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 1.4 APG in the postseason. The Lakers have not found an answer for Holmgren around the rim, and his rim protection has stifled their finishing inside.

Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James — F. 23.1 PPG, 7.8 APG, 6.1 RPG in the postseason. James is doing everything humanly possible at 41 years old, but the Lakers need help around him to extend the series.

Rui Hachimura — F. 16.7 PPG, 3.9 RPG in the postseason. Hachimura has been the second-most-reliable scorer in the Lakers playoff rotation and the closest thing they have to consistent secondary offense.

What is the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Lakers Series Record?

Oklahoma City leads Los Angeles 3-0 heading into Game 4 in Los Angeles. The Thunder won every game by double digits, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading a balanced attack that has overwhelmed the Lakers on both ends.
