Ja’Shawn Scroggins — QB. Through three games he has completed 36 of 78 passes for 467 yards with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Howard needs him to push that completion rate upward against a Big Ten secondary if the Bison want to keep pace on the road.
Travis Kerney — RB. Carrying the load in the backfield, Kerney has 87 yards on 31 carries so far. Even modest gains on early downs would help Scroggins avoid obvious passing situations at SHI Stadium.
Rodney Roane — LB. With 2 sacks on the season, Roane is the Bison defender most likely to make Lonergan uncomfortable in the pocket. Pressure from the second level could turn the Rutgers turnover problem into Howard’s best opportunity.
