Howard brings a 1-1 record into Memorial Stadium to face No. 5 Indiana, which sits unbeaten at 1-0 after opening its season with a win. The Hoosiers arrive with the weight of a top-five ranking and Big Ten expectations after a strong start while Howard looks to build on an uneven first two weeks against a considerably higher level of competition.
Bison quarterback Ja’Shawn Scroggins has already thrown for 424 yards and four touchdowns on 28-of-63 passing through two games though he has also thrown an interception that speaks to the growing pains of a young offense finding its footing. Wide receiver Se’Quan Osborne gives him a legitimate downfield target having caught four passes for 101 yards and a score.
Indiana counters behind quarterback Josh Hoover who has been efficient in limited work completing 13 of 16 attempts for 231 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Running back Turbo Richard adds a physical complement on the ground rushing 15 times for 58 yards and two touchdowns while defensive lineman Tyrique Tucker has already logged a sack up front. Howard defensive lineman Ishaun Abdul-Ali has recorded a sack of his own giving the Bison at least one disruptive presence to lean on against a ranked opponent.

Ja’Shawn Scroggins — QB. Through two games the Bison passer has completed 28 of 63 attempts for 424 yards, four touchdowns and one interception, numbers that reflect both his big-play ability and the volume Howard has needed to keep pace. He will need a cleaner outing against a Big Ten front seven playing in front of its home crowd.
Se’Quan Osborne — WR. Osborne has hauled in four catches for 101 yards and a touchdown, giving Scroggins a reliable outlet who can stretch the field. His ability to win one-on-one matchups will matter against a ranked defense at home.
Ishaun Abdul-Ali — DL. The defensive lineman has already recorded a sack this season, and Howard will need that kind of interior pressure to slow an Indiana offense that has been nearly perfect through its opener.

Josh Hoover — QB. Hoover has been sharp in his first outing, completing 13 of 16 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns without a turnover. That kind of efficiency has helped power the Hoosiers to their No. 5 ranking to open the season.
Turbo Richard — RB. Richard carried the ball 15 times for 58 yards and two touchdowns, giving Indiana a downhill complement to Hoover’s passing attack. A heavier workload could be in store against a Howard defense making the jump in competition level.
Tyrique Tucker — DL. Tucker already has a sack to his name, and his presence up front gives Indiana a pass-rushing threat that could disrupt Scroggins’ rhythm early.
