DIRECTV will be teeing up high-definition (HD) features to provide specialized coverage during the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament on June 2 – June 5, 2022.   

The 77th U.S. Women’s Open will take place on the greens and fairways of Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), this year’s competitors are playing for a $10 million purse, which is nearly double last year’s $5.5 million prize thanks to the presenting sponsor, ProMedica.

The enhanced coverage of this major women’s tour event will include a HD featured mix with two mosaic views both in the morning (starting at 8:38 a.m. ET) and the afternoon (starting at 2:23 p.m. ET) throughout the tournament on channel 901. Coverage will also be simulcast on the USA and NBC Networks to ensure a well-rounded view of the event.

As an industry leader in HD content, DIRECTV is also delivering enhanced mosaic coverage of Roland-Garros (French Open) tennis tournament alongside additional interactive features. What is the U.S. Women’s Open?

As one of nine golf championships put on by the USGA, the U.S. Women’s Open has been around the longest. This year marks its 77th return of the annual event. The championship also represents one of five as part of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) including Women’s PGA Championship, Women’s Open Championship, The Evian Championship and Chevron Championship.
