Only in our wildest dreams did we imagine we’d one day get the origin story of one of the most iconic movie characters of the early 2000s. But that’s exactly what Prime Video is giving us with Elle, the highly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel series that follows a teenage Elle Woods long before she made the decision to attend Harvard Law School. (What, like it’s hard?)

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Reese Witherspoon personally chose the actress who would take on the role. The Oscar winner also serves as an executive producer on the series, helping introduce a new generation to the character that made her a household name.

While fans will recognize a few familiar characters from the film — including Elle and her parent — Elle also introduces an entirely new ensemble of classmates, friends and rivals who help shape the future lawyer we know and love. Here’s your complete guide to the cast of Elle, premiering on Prime Video on July 1, 2026.

What Is ‘Elle’ About?

Created by Laura Kittrell, Elle is an eight-episode Legally Blonde prequel premiering on Prime Video on July 1, 2026. Set in 1995, six years before Elle Woods heads to Harvard Law School, the series follows Elle as her life is turned upside down when her father accepts a job in Seattle, forcing the family to leave sunny Beverly Hills behind.

As Elle adjusts to a new school and a very different city, she navigates first love, unexpected friendships and changing family dynamics, all while uncovering a mystery that looms over her new high school.

Full Cast of ‘Elle’

Here’s a look at all the cast and characters of the new Prime Video prequel series.

Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods

Known For: Elle (2026), Law & Order: SVU (2023), The Murdaugh Murders (2023)

Lexi Minetree stars as Elle Woods, the beloved heroine at the center of Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel. And in perhaps the highest endorsement possible, Reese Witherspoon personally chose Minetree to take on her most iconic role.

When teenage Elle arrives in Seattle, she’s the same outgoing, fashion-forward force she was back home in Beverly Hills. But it doesn’t take long for her to realize that fitting in won’t be as easy this time around. The social rules are different, the weather is bleaker and her new classmates aren’t quite sure what to make of the relentlessly optimistic girl in all pink.

Rather than shrinking herself to fit in, Elle rises to the challenge. As the series unfolds, she learns to navigate an unfamiliar world while staying true to the girl that will one day be a standout at Harvard Law School.

Throughout her journey, Elle’s close relationship with her mother serves as an emotional anchor. Their bond helps shape the compassionate, determined young woman audiences eventually meet in Legally Blonde — the one who wins over Harvard with a now-iconic video essay and, of course, her beloved Chihuahua Bruiser.

Fun fact: Lexi Minetree actually got the role by recreating that iconic admissions essay, which you can see part of here.

June Diane Raphael as Eva Woods

Known For: Grace and Frankie (2015–2022), Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

June Diane Raphael stars as Eva Woods, Elle Woods’ mother in Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel. Warm, well-meaning and just a little chaotic, Eva is the parent Elle turns to when she needs someone to listen to her.

As the Woods family adjusts to their new life in Seattle, Eva and Elle’s mother-daughter relationship becomes an anchor for them both. It’s easy to see where Elle gets her unwavering optimism and resilience. And, if we’re being honest, the great hair, too.

Tom Everett Scott as Wyatt Woods

Known For: That Thing You Do! (1996), The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022–2024), Southland (2009–2013)

Tom Everett Scott plays Wyatt Woods, Elle Woods’ father in Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel. A successful Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Wyatt accepts what appears to be a promising career opportunity that prompts the family’s move to Seattle, turning Elle’s picture-perfect life upside down.

A devoted father, Wyatt approaches life with a practical outlook that often clashes with Elle’s boundless optimism. While he’s determined to help his family settle into their new surroundings, it soon becomes clear there’s more behind the move than a simple career change.

Chandler Kinney as Kimberly

Known For: Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022–2024), the Z-O-M-B-I-E-S franchise (2018–2022), Dancing with the Stars Season 33 (2024)

Chandler Kinney plays Kimberly, one of the most popular students at Elle’s new Seattle high school. Sarcastic and fiercely protective of her social circle, Kimberly immediately clashes with the sunny girl from Beverly Hills. She’s skeptical of everything Elle represents and isn’t afraid to let her know it.

But Kimberly is far more complex than your typical high school queen bee. As the season unfolds, we begin to see beyond her tough exterior, turning her rivalry with Elle into something much more nuanced.

Jacob Moskovitz as Miles

Known For: Y2K (2024), Chicago P.D. (2023)

Jacob Moskovitz plays Miles, the star athlete at Elle’s new Seattle high school. While many of her classmates are quick to judge her, Miles is immediately drawn to her. As the two grow closer, Miles becomes one of Elle’s first genuine connections in Seattle, and whether that first crush blossoms into something more becomes one of the season’s biggest questions.

Zac Looker as Dustin

Known For: Elle (2026)

Zac Looker plays Dustin, one of Elle’s classmates who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo — or Elle herself. Passionate about social justice, Dustin frequently pushes back on Elle’s worldview, creating some of the show’s most entertaining debates, and perhaps even changing the way Elle sees the world.

James Van Der Beek as Dean Wilson

Known For: Dawson’s Creek (1998–2003), Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 (2012–2013), Varsity Blues (1999)

James Van Der Beek plays Dean Wilson, Seattle’s school district superintendent and a candidate for mayor. As an influential public figure whose decisions affect Elle’s new school, Dean represents the kind of authority Elle isn’t afraid to question.

Elle marks Van Der Beek’s final screen performance. He completed filming before his death in February 2026 following a battle with colorectal cancer, making his appearance in the series especially meaningful for longtime fans of Dawson’s Creek and his decades-long career.

Supporting Cast of ‘Elle’

Gabrielle Policano plays Liz, one of the first students to welcome Elle after her move to Seattle and a loyal friend who becomes part of her inner circle. Jessica Belkin plays Madison, another student to welcome Elle to Seattle and help her navigate the unfamiliar high school social scene. Logan Shroyer plays Josh, Madison’s cousin and Elle’s first major crush after moving to Seattle.

Rounding out the ensemble are Amy Pietz as Donna, along with David Burtka, Lisa Yamada, Kayla Maisonet and Brad Harder in recurring roles that shape Elle’s new life in Seattle.
