Julian Lewis — QB. Julian Lewis has picked apart opposing defenses early, completing 31 of 50 passes for 490 yards and five touchdowns through two games. His ability to push the ball downfield has been the engine behind Colorado’s 2-0 start, and Northwestern’s secondary will be tested by his volume and touchdown production alike.
Micah Welch — RB. Behind Lewis, Micah Welch has carried the load on the ground, picking up 164 yards and two scores on 26 attempts. That workload gives the Buffaloes’ offense a second dimension defenses have to account for on every snap.
Lamont Lester Jr. — DL. Providing pressure up front, Lamont Lester Jr. has already racked up four sacks this season, giving Colorado a disruptive presence off the edge. His production could be a factor if Northwestern’s protection wavers.
