Anaheim Ducks at Vegas Golden Knights — Game 1 Preview

The Anaheim Ducks went 3-0-0 against Vegas in the regular season and backed that up by eliminating the Edmonton Oilers in six games in the first round, giving them significant momentum heading to T-Mobile Arena. Jack Eichel led the Golden Knights in the first round with nine points (one goal, eight assists) in six games, and Mitch Marner added seven points as Vegas dispatched Utah. Anaheim’s forward trio of Troy Terry, Leo Carlsson and Cutter Gauthier each produced eight points in Round 1, while defenseman Jackson LaCombe led all Ducks skaters with nine points. Vegas center William Karlsson is listed as questionable after a full practice Sunday, adding a question mark to the Golden Knights’ depth down the middle as the series opens.

Players to Watch: Anaheim Ducks vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Anaheim Ducks

Troy Terry — Right Wing. Terry posted three goals and five assists in the first round against Edmonton and has been one of Anaheim’s most consistent offensive threats. His speed and ability to shoot off the rush create problems for any defenseman, and a strong Game 1 from him at T-Mobile Arena would immediately put the Golden Knights on notice that this Ducks team is built to compete.

Leo Carlsson — Center. Carlsson matched Terry’s eight points in Round 1 with three goals and five assists, and his play at center has given the Ducks a capable option between their top wingers. The young center generated 28 shots in the first round, and his combination of size and skill makes him difficult to push off the puck in contested areas.

Vegas Golden Knights

Jack Eichel — Center. Eichel led Vegas in first-round scoring with nine points (one goal, eight assists) and has been the engine of the Golden Knights’ offense all season. His ability to make plays in traffic and create looks off the rush makes him one of the most dangerous playmakers in the Western Conference, and slowing him down will be Anaheim’s primary defensive priority.

Mitch Marner — Right Wing. Marner produced seven points (two goals, five assists) in the first round and has been an ideal complement to Eichel’s center play. His quick release and ability to find space in tight areas make him a constant threat, and his playoff experience adds a dimension to the Golden Knights that they need to leverage at home in Game 1.

What is the Anaheim Ducks vs. Vegas Golden Knights series record?

This is Game 1 of the series between the Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights. The Ducks went 3-0-0 against Vegas in the regular season, though the playoffs represent a fresh start for both clubs.
