All about DIRECTV Genre Packs

DIRECTV Genre Packs are curated collection of channels and streaming services focused on a single theme like sports, entertainment, news, or family programming. This makes them different from DIRECTV’s existing Signature Packages, which include a broad mix of entertainment, news, sports and other channels.

What are Genre packs?

Genre Packs let customers purchase smaller, lower-cost packs focused on the content that interests them the most. Genre Packs include between 13-50+ channels, and some include streaming services. Genre Packs are available in Base Packs and Mini Packs. To maintain service, Genre Packs customers must have a minimum Base Pack. Unlike Signature Packages, customers can have multiple base packs. Mini Packs are optional. You must first subscribe to a Base Pack to be eligible for Mini Packs. Mini Packs are only available if you have a qualifying Base Pack.

Who can get Genre Packs?

New DIRECTV customers can choose either Genre Packs or Signature Package when they sign up. Genre Packs and Signature Packages can't be mixed.
Genre Packs are only available via broadband internet, so if you switch, you'll no longer use your satellite dish (if applicable).
You may need to return your existing receiver(s) to avoid a non-return fee.
You'll lose your purchased items, preferences, and add-ons. However, if you link your account to Movies Anywhere before canceling, some customers may still be able to access eligible purchases (Movies Anywhere s not affiliated with DIRECTV).

DIRECTV customers who have Signature Packages (Entertainment, CHOICE, Ultimate or Premier) can call 800.860.8538 (weekdays 7 AM - 9:30PM CT, weekends 7AM - 9:30 PM CT) for information and help with Genre Pack questions and sign up.

What Genre Packs are available?

Base Packs

MySports: A curated selection of sports related channels including NBA TV, NFL Network, MLB Network, ESPN, NBA TV, and the NHL Network. Also includes a subscription to the ESPN Unlimited streaming service. Check out the complete channel lineup here.

Can I modifying my existing Genre Pack?

You can make changes at any time. Here's how:

Go to My TV Package.
Choose Add or Remove the Genre Packs you want to modify.
Review your desired changes and select Submit to save.

Charges for added Genre Packs may be prorated, depending on your billing cycle. You'll be able to review pricing details before confirming any changes.

Important Note: You can have as many Base Packs as you want, but you must have a minimum of one Base Pack. After you remove one, you'll still be able to access your content until the end of your billing cycle.

Can I switch between Signature packages and Genre Packs?

Yes! Satellite customers can call 844.572.5037. Customers who have streaming (no satellite) can chat with a live agent or call 866.293.8064.

Can I upgrade MyFree DIRECTV to Genre packs?

Yes! And if you upgrade to Genre Packs, you'll still have access to all the content in MyFree DIRECTV.
