Toward the Unknown

It's early in the Cold War, and no job is more important than Air Force test pilot. Maj. Lincoln Bond is an ace flier, but because he was a captive during the Korean War, Brig. Gen. Bill Banner thinks the emotionally wounded Bond isn't ready for the job. Making matters worse for Bond, his ex-girlfriend, Connie, is spending her free time with Banner. But, in a series of dramatic events, Bond impresses fellow pilots and earthbound observers.
