Curley Thompson (Bob Steele) clashes with Hatch Bolton (I. Stanford Jolley), who is buying out small ranches in order to sell to a large grain combine. Thompson is questioned by Deputy Walter Gordon (Kermit Maynard) when Gordon's brother, the sheriff, goes missing. While investigating this disappearance, Thompson is given a cryptic clue by rancher Joe Moore (Al Ferguson), but Moore is killed before he can elaborate. Thompson and Gordon must then join forces to find the truth.
