Thanks to Jigglypuff's sleep-inducing song, the blimp carrying Ash and Misty back home goes off-course and crashes on an island, where they meet a new friend named Tracey while trying to help a lost Lapras.

After making a crash landing on Valencia Island, Ash, Brock and Misty get directions to Professor Ivy's laboratory, where the mysterious Poké Ball awaits; a delighted Brock discovers that the professor and her colleagues are fellow Pokémon breeders.
