The good news: DIRECTV makes it easier to follow NHL all season long with tools like Sports Central, the NHL schedule page, and ZIP code lookup tools for local sports channel availability.

 

How to locate NHL games 

Have you found yourself wondering what channel NHL games are on today? We hear you! NHL games can air across national networks, regional sports networks (RSNs), and supported streaming services depending on the matchup and your location. 
 

National NHL games (games available nationwide)

  • National broadcasts: NHL games may air nationally on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, and TBS, depending on the game and part of the season. 
  • NHL Network: NHL Network is available on DIRECTV on channel 215 and offers live games, highlights, news, and analysis throughout the season. NHL Network is included with the Ultimate and Premier packages (satellite and stream). 
  • Streaming availability for select games: Depending on the matchup, some NHL games may also be available through supported streaming services such as ESPN Unlimited, HBO Max, or other participating apps that require internet access and, in some cases, a separate subscription. 
 

Local team games (RSNs & team-specific local channels)

Many NHL games are shown in-market on regional sports networks (RSNs). Availability of RSNs and local sports coverage varies by market (ZIP code) and package.

  • Find today’s game and where it airs: Use the NHL Schedule to see game listings and watch options by date. 
 

Out-of-market options (when you’re outside your team’s territory)

  • NHL CENTER ICE® (Satellite customers): NHL CENTER ICE gives DIRECTV satellite customers access to up to 40 out-of-market games each week during the regular season. Learn more at NHL CENTER ICE on DIRECTV. 
  • NHL CENTER ICE channels: On DIRECTV, NHL CENTER ICE games are broadcast on channels 770-793. Customers with NHL CENTER ICE and compatible HD equipment can also use the Game Mix channel on 770-1 to watch up to 8 NHL games on one screen. 
  • Blackouts and exclusions: Blackout restrictions and other conditions apply. In-market games are generally not included with out-of-market packages, and game availability can vary based on your location and league rules. 
 

Confirm your access to channels or add streaming options

  • Sports Pack requirement (select customers): NHL Network is included with the Ultimate and Premier packages. Customers on Entertainment or Choice can add DIRECTV Sports Pack to get NHL Network along with 35+ regional and specialty sports networks.

How to watch the NHL 

Via the NHL Schedule

  • Use your Guide and Search to find games by entering your team name, matchup, or "NHL" to see what's live and upcoming across channels and available apps (internet required for streaming apps).
  • Use the NHL schedule page to confirm where a game is airing, then tune in through your DIRECTV service or supported app experience: NHL Schedule. 
  • Use the NHL teams page to keep up with national coverage, playoff information, and team-related content throughout the season: NHL Teams on DIRECTV. 

Via Sports Central

  • No matter how you get your DIRECTV service (via Satellite or via Internet), from the main menu access Sports Central to explore schedules and more (recording only available on DIRECTV channels).
