Jerry O'Connor is a tractor operator who would rather be a race-car driver; Buddy Buttle is his backwoods friend. Race-car magnate Pinky Delano, obsessed with breaking speed records, sees O'Connor in a small-time auto race, hires him to be one of his racers and hires Buddy to be a mechanic.
